The trusty goretex that were to finish their life after this walk. They began to leak terribly by the end of the walk. These shoes had accompanied me since 2007, through the parish on the edge of Lima, the Inca Trail, the Amazon and the Great Ocean Road. They were to be dumped in Madrid after I left Logrono, having failed to find a pair of shoes my size there.
...It is hard to believe I have walked nine days and will not be doing so tomorrow. I am tempted to walk to Navarette tomorrow, and catch the bus back afterwards. I'd be back well and truly by lunch time. I found an albergue here (not the official Pilgrim one.) Situated in a housing area that used to be the old bull ring. Only 10 euros a night, but new and clean with really good showers and laundry facilities. I booked in for 2 nights, and am the only pilgrim staying in a dormitory for about 50 people. (From diary)
